We recently celebrated the academic excellence, outstanding sporting and extracurricular achievements of our students. The Prize Giving Ceremony was an opportunity to recognise the hard work, determination, and resilience demonstrated by our students across all disciplines and was a testament to the remarkable talents and contributions that define the values of the Marist Community.
Students were presented with academic awards, individual subject awards, sporting awards and extra-curricular awards. Well done the huge number of students involved. Some of the many awards included:
Fionn Laffey, Daniel Sleator, Darragh Donegan and Cullen Grehan in 1st Year receiving academic awards for having the best average results across all of their subjects in their exams throughout the year.
The English Department recognised Andrew McGorisk, in 6th Year, who demonstrated exceptional talent in written expression. He always had his own voice both on and off the page.
Finnan Canty in 6th Year was presented with the ‘Commitment to Geography Award’ in memory of our colleague and teacher Ms. Cryan. The winner of this award has shown exceptional commitment to all aspects of geography, investing considerable effort into his studies, a fitting tribute to Ms. Cryan’s memory.
Andrew Henson was selected as the worthy recipient of the Victor Ludorum Award. This award is voted on by students across the school and is awards to the ‘Best Senior Sports Person of 2025’. Andrew was selected for his incredible achievements in rowing, swimming and GAA, including representing Ireland at the U18s Six Nations, along with all his other rugby successes for Marist College and his club, Buccaneers.
Each year the Bank of Ireland kindly sponsors ‘Student of the Year’ awards for Outstanding Contribution to Marist College. This year the Junior Bank of Ireland Award went to Ruairi Connaughton in third year. We had two very worthy Senior students win this award, with the Senior Bank of Ireland Award going to Sean O’Neill and Ruairí Ó Duibhir in 6th Year. Thank you to Rachel and Diarmuid from Bank of Ireland for attending our awards ceremony and presenting these awards.
